Vall Fosca is a project based entirely on the use of field recordings made during a family trip in 2020 to the Vall Fosca region. For this process, Oniric Cat used a TASCAM portable recorder, with which he captured nature sounds, foley, ambient sounds, and environmental noises with a very clear premise: to create music using only that sound material as a source.
The result is a project comprised of three tracks in three very different styles, united by a common starting point: the landscape, the natural environment, and the transformation of real sound into musical composition. Each track is named after the location where the recordings were made, accompanied by an alternative English title that serves as a poetic concept for each piece.
Pobleta de Bellveí is the name of the village where the family stayed during their journey. This piece is constructed from the sounds of the cowbells of the cows that grazed around the village and the church bells, everyday sounds transformed here into musical material.
The result is a piece with a hypnotic and heavy rhythm, which fits within the Midtempo genre, with touches of Dubstep that reinforce its dark, dense and enveloping character.
💿 Mini NFC CD
This project also features a NFC mini CD for sale, designed with the same visual aesthetic. This special format includes the three tracks from the Vall Fosca project, as well as remixes, detailed production explanations, interviews, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content, expanding the experience beyond simply listening to the music. The GPS coordinates of Pobleta de Bellveí are also printed on the mini CD itself, physically connecting the object to the actual location where the project originated.
