Vall Fosca is a project based entirely on the use of field recordings made during a family trip in 2020 to the Vall Fosca region. For this process, Oniric Cat used a TASCAM portable recorder, with which he captured nature sounds, foley, ambient sounds, and environmental noises with a very clear premise: to create music using only that sound material as a source.
The result is a project comprised of three tracks in three very different styles, united by a common starting point: the landscape, the natural environment, and the transformation of real sound into musical composition. Each track is named after the location where the recordings were made, accompanied by an alternative English title that serves as a poetic concept for each piece.
'Montcortès (Ethereal Bloom)' was recorded at Estany de Montcortès, one of the most emblematic locations in the area. The piece is constructed from sounds of water, nature, and ambient noises captured on site.
The composition is clearly divided into two parts. In the first, the track is built layer by layer from a loop, progressively adding new textures and rhythmic elements that emerge from the soundscape itself. In the second part, a gradual acceleration appears, transforming the initial atmosphere and naturally leading into Progressive House, revealing the energetic growth contained from the beginning.
The Montcortès landscape was also the direct inspiration for the project's cover art, created by Kushu, an artist specializing in collage. The color green dominates the visual composition and conveys the vital, organic, and expansive energy of the subject, connecting image and sound through a single expressive intention.
💿 Mini NFC CD
This project also features a NFC mini CD for sale, designed with the same visual aesthetic. This special format includes the three tracks from the Vall Fosca project, as well as remixes, detailed production explanations, interviews, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content, expanding the experience beyond simply listening to the music. The GPS coordinates of the Montcortès pond are also printed on the mini CD itself, physically connecting the object to the actual location where the project originated.
